Yaskawa Motoman AR-Series Robots Offer High-Speed Welding to Boost Productivity

Featuring:

Dayton, OH — Designed specifically for arc welding applications, the AR-series six-axis robots offer optimized acceleration/deceleration control for all robot axes, resulting in overall improved productivity. These high-performance robots are available with 8 to 25 kg payload capacity in order to support a wide variety of sensors and torches for welding application flexibility. The AR-series robots offer the highest payload, fastest speed and highest wrist allowable moment in their class.

Advanced, intuitive programming functions, such as High-Speed Search, maximize weld quality and speed without complicated programming. Preprogrammed welding processes allow users to select materials and weldment properties to automatically control supply settings. A digital interface on the robot programming pendant allows the user to remotely access and manipulate weld settings with all major brands of power supplies.

Seven models are available. Each model offers high allowable moment of inertia ratings that provide substantial wrist rigidity and consistent weld quality. Installation is quick and efficient; a single cable is all that is needed to connect the manipulator to the controller, resulting in easy setup and reduced expenses for maintenance and spare parts inventory.

The powerful and compact AR700 and AR900 robots are ideal for welding small parts with complicated angles in tight places with an overarm torch. A slim profile design allows close proximity placement of robots for high-density workcells, and a smooth, easy-to-clean surface accommodates use in harsh environments. As an option, the manipulator cable can be connected on the bottom of the robot (as opposed to the side) to avoid wall interference.

The AR1440, AR1440E, AR1730 and AR2010 robots feature a contoured arm design that allows easy access to parts in tight spots and avoids potential interference with fixtures, enabling close proximity placement of robots for high-density workcells. The symmetric wrist profile, with ample range, provides equal torch access to both sides of part. A 50 mm thru-hole for torch cabling, hose and sensor wires reduces cable interference and wear. Likewise, the minimal U-axis cable protrusion and S-axis internal cable management prolongs cable life and maximizes part access. The AR1440E features seven axes for additional flexibility for complex tooling and obstacle avoidance in tight work areas.

The AR1440, AR1440E, AR2010 and AR3120 models have an optimized feeder mounting area on the arm to reduce equipment interference. The AR1440 is featured in all of Yaskawa Motoman’s popular ArcWorld® workcells. The AR2010 and AR3120 robots offer an extended horizontal and vertical reach, making them ideal for agriculture equipment, construction machinery or automotive frames.

The AR1730 features a patented double-yoke upper arm design that is stronger than other six axis integrated cable designs, allowing it to provide years of reliable service at an increased payload while maintaining an agile profile.

All models feature easy maintenance, including a data saving feature that permits the robot’s wire harness to be replaced without having to connect it to a battery.

The AR1440E can be floor-mounted; all other models can be floor-, ceiling- or wall-mounted to enhance joint access.

AR-series robots are controlled by Yaskawa’s high-performance YRC1000 controller that is built to a global standard and does not require a transformer for input voltages ranging from 380VAC to 480VAC. The YRC1000 is highly compact (598 W x 490 H x 427 D mm), resulting in reduced space requirements. Its I/O communication speed is improved by as much as 50% for improved work. The improved programming pendant design features enhanced ergonomics and is 27% lighter weight than the previous generation.
