Living Optics has built the world's first video-rate hyperspectral camera designed for computer vision developers and systems integrators. Founded out of Oxford University, we're on a mission to make spectral imaging practical — not just for research labs, but for real industrial applications.

Standard machine vision cameras see three bands of light. Ours sees 96 — spanning 440–900nm across the full visible and near-infrared spectrum — while simultaneously capturing a full 5-megapixel RGB image, all at 30 frames per second. That means defects, contaminants, and material variations that are completely invisible to conventional cameras become clearly distinguishable in spectral data.

The applications are broad: food quality inspection (e.g. ripeness, foreign material detection), industrial surface and material analysis, autonomous systems that need richer environmental data, and anywhere you've hit the limits of color cameras and need to know more.

Our Development Kit pairs the Living Optics Camera with an NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin edge compute platform, a Python SDK, and everything needed to start building production-grade applications on day one. It's built for the engineers and integrators ready to add a new dimension to their machine vision stack.
