Lake Superior State University (LSSU) is the first university in the nation to offer a bachelor's degree in Robotics Engineering Technology (in 1985). LSSU also offers programs in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, robotics engineering, and mechatronics. LSSU hosts a multi-million dollar robotics lab with about 30 industrial and mobile robots and numerous vision systems, conveyor systems, PLCs, sensors, and safety devices

LSSU was voted as one of the best regional public colleges in 2024 by US News and World Report and among the Most Affordable colleges and universities in the nation by College Consensus. The tuition for the academic year at LSSU is approximately $14,500. This tuition is the same for all students worldwide.

All engineering and technology classes and labs at LSSU are taught by university professors. LSSU offers a private university setting at public university prices with the average class size at 14 students.

Graduating students from the School of Engineering and Technology get nearly 100% placement, averaging about 2 job offers per student before graduation, and starting salaries typically at $75,000 or more. Students also receive outstanding opportunities for paid summer internships.

LSSU is located in the eastern part of the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan - about 45 minutes north of the Mackinaw Bridge. The safe and friendly campus offers numerous opportunities for students to participate in sports and clubs. The Division I hockey program is reputed nationally.
