ESTAT Actuation a is a motion control technology producer that replaces traditional, heavy, energy-hungry electromagnetic clutches and brakes with novel electroadhesive alternatives. It can help to think of the electroadhesion as "electric glue": it sticks when it's powered on and doesn't stick when it's powered off. ESTAT's ultra-thin clutches reduce the overall system form factor, weigh a fraction of a conventional clutch, and consume less than a thousandth of the power an ordinary brake would require.
