NK Technologies Introduces Ground Fault Protection Solutions for Industrial Automation Equipment at Automate 2026
Proven ground fault sensor/relay technology provides a reliable and cost effective alternative to scarce 30A+ GFPE circuit breakers, helping protect industrial and commercial automation systems from damaging ground faults
San Jose, CA — June 2026 — NK Technologies, a leading manufacturer of electrical monitoring and protection products, announced today that it will showcase its industrial ground-fault sensor/relay solutions for the first time as an exhibitor at Automate 2026. These solutions are designed to protect industrial and commercial automation equipment from low-level ground faults that can cause overheating, equipment damage, and potential fires on the factory floor.
Ground-fault protection for equipment (GFPE) is a critical safety function in modern automation systems. Unlike personnel-protection devices, GFPE is engineered specifically to safeguard machinery, controls, and electrical infrastructure from leakage currents that fall below traditional overcurrent protection thresholds.
However, sourcing GFPE circuit breakers—particularly 30A, 3-phase, and larger—has become increasingly difficult due to limited availability and extended lead times. This shortage has created a significant challenge for OEMs, system integrators, and facility maintenance teams seeking reliable equipment-level protection.
NK Technologies’ solution addresses this gap with a factory-calibrated fixed trip point ground-fault sensor/relay that trips when leakage current to ground exceeds a designated threshold (i.e. trip point). For equipment protection, trip points typically begin at 30 mA and can extend well above 5 amps, depending on application requirements.
The relay contact built into the NK Technologies sensor/relay can be wired to energize the solenoid of a shunt-trip breaker, disconnecting power to the load until the fault source is identified and corrected. Together, the sensor/relay and shunt-trip breaker form a robust, scalable GFPE solution suitable low, medium and for high-current automation equipment.
“As automation systems become more complex and more essential to production uptime, protecting equipment from low-level ground faults is no longer optional—it’s mission-critical,” said Ron Rapczynski Director of Business Development for NK Technologies. “Our ground-fault sensors and relays give engineers and electrical contractors a reliable, readily available alternative to hard-to-source and expensive GFPE breakers, without compromising safety or performance.”
NK Technologies invites Automate 2026 attendees to learn more about these solutions and discuss application requirements with the company’s applications team at Booth 36002 located in the North Building, far right corner as you enter onto the show floor.
